Delays in container shipping

There has been an unprecedented shortage in shipping containers, ever since consumer demand has bounced back from an initial slowdown due to COVID-19.

The increase in demand was stronger than expected and not met with a sufficient supply of shipping capacity leading to a shortage of empty containers.

Carriers, ports and shippers were all taken by surprise. Empty boxes were left in places where they were not needed, and repositioning had not been planned for.

This has resulted in lengthy delays for us in getting new stock from our overseas suppliers, as well as skyrocketing transport prices. We apologise for the ongoing delays, and ask that you bear with us that little bit longer while the shipping industry catches up.
